Craig Shearer is a Maryland-based photographer originally from Connellsville, Pennsylvania.

Beginning as a self-taught youth, he found the majority of his artistic inspiration in non-visual sources.  Over the course of his career, these influences have ranged from Southern Gothic literature to Scandinavian progressive metal.  The result is a photographic style rich in distinctive tones, multiple layers, and tenebrous subject matter.  His images have been featured in various publications, galleries, and exhibitions.

He has also instructed courses and workshops on black and white photography, advanced composition, and digital post-processing.

Future projects include providing artwork for an anthology of poems and creating a visual record of his hometown.

He and his wife reside in Bethesda, Maryland.
